The nature and purpose of Kubricks Lens Cap has changed and shifted over the years since I first started blogging. jon rosling
Initially it was focussed on film-making (hence the Kubrickian title), a creative hobby I pursued with some small scale success for about six or seven years.
I’ve also written extensively about UK politics in the past but have drifted away from that and my blog now focusses on my love of history, with the aim of increase the sum of human knowledge on little known historical events, places and people.
Kubrick’s Lens Cap sometimes sees me comment on things related to history and aesthetics also.
Born and bred in Yorkshire, I have spent most of my life here, with a four year stint at Keele University in Staffordshire and several months working in the United States. jon rosling
After completing a History and Philosophy degree at Keele University, I taught for a number of years and then ran a number of businesses across the creative industries.
My creative work includes several novels published under a pseudonym and, as myself, the award winning short films “The Secret”, “Georgia’s Angel” and “Land of Dreams”; and the feature length film “Five Pillars”.
My first book, “The Sleep of Reason“, considers how the Holocaust emerged out of social and historical trends in Europe.
Currently I’m researching a biography of Thomas Rotherham, Archbishop of York during the Wars of the Roses.
One of my roles at Thomas Rotherham College is to help develop our theme weeks and in particular Culture Diversity Week. In support of the Media department I wonder if you would be able to put on a showing of one of your short films, maybe ‘The Secret’ and run a workshop for students who are interested in film and may want to pursue this as a career.
Thanks

Thanks for your comment Matt. I emailed you last week and I believe you called me but I was out on a shoot. If you’d like to give me a call one evening this week I’d love to come and have a chat about how we can make this work.
